Close Call

When I heard what had happened, or better yet, what had almost happened, I knew The Lord had answered my prayer in a huge way.
That Saturday started out simple enough. Tim had agreed to help our daughter Sara and her husband Jordan to pick-up a new dog kennel for her business: “Sara’s Waggy Tails.” As for me, I was happy to watch baby Maverick while they were gone. When Sara and Jordan walked through our door, I knew something was wrong when I saw the expression on their faces. Immediately they began to describe the wreck that almost happened.
Before coming to our house that morning, Sara and Jordan ate breakfast in Fountain City. After they finished, they drove down Maynardville Highway on their way to our house. While in Halls, the car that was in front of them turned in next to Home Federal Bank. For some reason, the car came to a sudden stop during the turn so the back part of it was still on the road. Sara and Jordan didn’t see any other cars or people around that would have caused the car to stop as it did. But, by doing that, the back part of it still sat on Maynardville Hwy. So, Jordan and Sara had to also come to a stop since they were unable to maneuver around it. This left them sitting still on Maynardville Highway as well. Then they heard the shrill sound of squealing tires. They looked back to see a large truck barreling towards them while scooting sideways. It barely missed hitting their car as it slid past them and toward a pole. Fortunately for the driver of the truck and his passenger, they also missed hitting the pole. That’s when I realized just how much God had answered my prayers.
“But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.” Psalm 66:19 (KJV)
If you have read my article: “Tub Prayers,” then you know I knell at my bathtub every morning and say my prayers. There are two that I always include: “Lord please keep your hand on Maverick and let him grow into a Godly man.” As you can see, The Lord not only hand His hand on Maverick, but He did everybody else involved as well. He went above and beyond in answering my prayer.
“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” Ephesians 5:20 (KJV)
Having the vivid imagination that I do; I envisioned that scenario in my head. Each time I thank of it, I say a prayer of thanks to The Lord that He kept all of the safe. You know, if I were to thank Him every minute of the day, it would never be enough for what He did.
Sara said once they were back on the road, the white truck stayed far behind them. She said it was as if she had a bomb in the car. I replied that I would have done the same as that truck driver. Once I thought about it, I realized that my passenger would have had to drive because I would’ve have been too busy praying, crying and asking for chocolate or french fries.
