"AHA!"

My parents where smarter than I gave them credit for when I was child. Why? Because they bought me plastic Easter Eggs. You see, they quickly discovered how much I loved hunting for and finding them. With the plastic ones, I could search for them year-round. That kept me happy and occupied, which kept my parents happy as well. Whenever I found one, I would yell: “AHA!” Of course, this led me to hunt for other things as well. While I was good at it, there was and still is something that I struggle to find.
I don’t know how many hours I have spent on my hands and knees as I searched through the grass as I hunted for four leaf clovers. So, how many did I find while doing that? Let me put it this way; I can count on one hand how many I found during my whole life. No kidding. When I was in elementary school, we would scour through the grass on the playground searching for them. Most of my friends found at least one. No “Aha!” moment for me. All of the ones that I saw had three petals. Oh, it gets better. I have a cousin who always finds them. I remember her coming to visit one time and we all were standing outside and talking. She glanced down to the ground and said” “Oh, look. There’s a four-leaf clover.” Immediately.she bent down and plucked it. Then she proceeded to find more of them. I bent over and looked as well. Again, all the ones I saw had three petals. Now, I’m going to fast forward a few years to a family event. Of course, this same cousin was finding four leaf clovers and I wasn’t. Suddenly she exclaimed: “A five leaf clover!” Sure enough, she was holding it. I was amazed. I had no idea that clovers came with five pedals. She even let me hold it. To me that was more than an “Aha!” moment for her. Instead, it was more of a “Wow!” event. That being said, I had my own “Aha/Wow” moment recently.
On the weekdays, Tim and I get up at 4:45 in the morning. I take Roxy out as we walk around the house. As you know, it is still pretty dark at that time. When we turned the back corner, I saw a small light in the grass. I wondered what in the world it could be. Once, we were upon it, I realized it was the glow from a lightning bug. Using my phone, I snapped a couple of pictures. That’s when I realized it was hanging on to the back of a small plant. Slowly, the light began to fade. Not knowing much about them, I couldn’t help but wonder if it was in the process of dying. Bless it’s little bug heart. This was not only an “Aha!” moment for me, but it was also a “Wow!” one. I bet all of the people I know who can easily find four or five leaf clovers they had ever seen what The Lord had showed me.
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 (KJV)
Unlike four leaf clovers and lightning bugs, Jesus isn’t hard to find. Not at all. As I used to get on my hands and knees and search, you can do that as you seek for Him as well. He is easily found for those that will truly seek Him.
Do I still look for four leaf clovers? I do when I take Roxy out for a walk, but I don’t look as hard as I used to do. Now, I am just as happy to watch the insects and birds out in the yard. But if I happen to see one, I’ll pluck it up and yell: “Aha!” Next, I’ll thank Jesus for letting me find it.
