Today, 8th Judicial District Attorney General Jared Effler announced his intent to seek a second term after filing his ballot petition with Election Commissions in Campbell, Claiborne, Fentress, Scott and Union Counties. General Effler said, “Eight years ago I made the commitment to this district to hold offenders accountable and to be a voice for crime victims.”
On Friday, September 24, District Attorney General Jared Effler and staff, in partnership with the Children’s Centers of the 8th Judicial District, hosted the Sixth Annual Clays for Children Sporting Clays Tournament at Chilhowee Sportsman’s Club in Maryville. The purpose of this event was to raise money to support the children’s centers of the 8th Judicial District, comprised of Campbell, Claiborne, Fentress, Scott, and Union counties.
District Attorney General Jared Effler and staff, in partnership with the Children’s Centers of the 8th Judicial District, will be hosting the 6th Annual Clays for Children Sporting Clays Tournament at Chilhowee Sportsman’s Club in Maryville, Tennessee on Friday, September 24th. Funds raised from this tournament will ensure that our Children’s Centers continue their worthy mission of serving abused and neglected children. This successful fundraiser has grown every year and is now the largest event held at the Chilhowee Sportsman’s Club.
On August 16, 2021, former Fentress County Deputy Finance Director Kellye Rhea Crabtree was sentenced by Fentress County Criminal Court Judge E. Shayne Sexton to serve twelve (12) years in Tennessee Department of Corrections custody. This sentence follows Ms. Crabtree’s previous guilty pleas to theft of property valued at more than $60,000.00 from the government of Fentress County, theft of property valued at more than $1,000.00 from the Kirby Johnson Memorial Ball Park and official misconduct.

To commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW), which runs April 19-25, 2020, 8th District Attorney General Jared Effler and his staff had originally planned a week-long “Walk Across the District” with designated walks to be held on each day of the week in each of the five counties within the district, covering Campbell, Claiborne, Union, Scott, and Fentress counties in honor of crime victims; however, in light of current circumstances, General Effler is now asking us all to observe this very important week in a different way, individually.
