Johnny Ray Janeway-age 63 of Knoxville took his Heavenly flight on Father’s Day, June 18, 2017 at his home. He was a member of American Baptist Church. Johnny was a retired employee of the University of Tennessee Athletic Department with 41 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Ray and Frances (Nelson) Janeway.
Reverend Dewey George Raley – born July 16, 1924, passed away Thursday afternoon June 15, 2017 at Trinity Hills Senior Living with family by his side. Stephanie sang him into the arms of Jesus. A WWII U. S. Navy Veteran, he served aboard the USS Huse (DE-145) Atlantic Fleet and the USS Vulcan (AR-5) Pacific Fleet. After service to his country he enlisted into the service of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He pastored churches in Union, Grainger, Anderson, Knox and Loudon Counties. His greatest joy was spreading the Gospel.
Nella Faye Muncey Atkins-age 76 of Luttrell went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at her home. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. Nella is the last surviving child of a family of 13; the children of the late Bill and Lilly Muncey to include sisters: Ina Tharp, Alverta Wyrick, Ruth Wallace, Betty Jane Mynatt, Mossie Hensley, Trula Seymour; brothers: Clyde, Claude, Hubert, Arthur, Martin and Junior Muncey. Nella is survived by her husband: Donald Atkins of Luttrell. Several nieces and nephews.
Carlos L. Raley – age 59 of Maynardville, went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2017. Carlos was of the Baptist faith. He was an employee of Clayton Motors for 22 years.
Carlos is preceded in death by his father; Willard Raley; grandparents, Amos and Izora England and Claude and Beulah Raley. He is survived by his mother, Wanda Jenell Garrison; brother and sister-in-law Chris and Norma Raley; nephews, Jacob Raley and Eric (Jen) Raley; great nieces, Madison, Kaitlyn and Brooklyn Raley; and special friends, Volvo and Wedge.
Evelyn Latasha Jones-age 32 of Strawberry Plains passed away Saturday morning, June 10, 2017 at her home. She is survived by her husband, Sam Jones; daughter, Kyila Nelson; son, Kevin Nelson. Family and friends will meet at Pollard Cemetery for graveside service and interment 2:30 P.M. Monday, June 12, 2017, Rev. Ray Covington officiating. The family will receive friends 4-6 P.M. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
Dorothy Ray-age 61 of Maynardville went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 9, 2017 at her home. Member of Alder Springs Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Andy and Maggie Ray; brother, Junior Ray, Gladys Ray and Mary Teresa Ray.
Survivors: sisters, Pearl Ray, Pauline Caldwell and husband, Jeff; brothers, J. C., Troy and wife, Helen, E. J., and Clarence Ray; Step-son, Nicholas Wilson; aunts, Sally Berry and Mary Ray; sister-in-law, Carolyn Ray. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Thomas Allen (Tommy) Gibson-age 51 of New Tazewell passed away Tuesday morning, June 6, 2017. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by father, Richard Gibson; grandparents, Leonard and Pearl Cooper; step-daughter, Brittany Nicole Southerland.
Walter Lynn Payne – age 50 of Maynardville, went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2017. He was of the Baptist faith. Walter was a flooring contractor in which he made many friends.
Swan David Baker, Jr. –age 50 of Knoxville passed away suddenly Thursday, June 1, 2017 at his home. David was of the Baptist faith and a member of New Testament Baptist Church and formally of Dutch Valley Baptist. He was a former plant operator for Hallsdale-Powell Utility District. David is preceded in death by his father, Swan David Baker, Sr., aunt, Dorothy Lowery. Grandparents, Deadrick and Pauline Baker, Johnnie and Dewey Archer.
Bertie Graves Campbell-age 89 of Maynardville passed away Sunday morning, June 4, 2017 at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Maynardville and was a retired employee of the Tennessee Department of Human Services and also the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Preceded in death by husband, Robert Campbell; sons, David and Tucker Campbell; grandson, Adam Jones; son-in-law, David Jones.

Rev. Walter Oxendine-age 76 of Luttrell passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at Beverly Park Place. He was a member and former pastor of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Joyce Leann Oxendine; parents, Eddie Plumer and Ruby Hazel (Sands) Oxendine; sister, Frances Inklebarger.

George Allen Savage – age 76 of Luttrell, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on May 29, 2017 at 7:11 a.m. at his home surrounded by his loving family. He attended New Pleasant Gap Baptist Church and was an ordained Deacon for 31 years. George was employed for 29 years with Dempster Systems and was a current employee of Trinity Funeral Home. George had a love for softball with many remembering him for his years of coaching his softball teams, Tater Valley and Savage Construction.
Mr. Joel Lee Corum-age 57 of Maynardville, born November 10, 1959 passed away suddenly Sunday morning, May 28, 2017. He was of the Baptist faith and a delivery driver at Flowers by Bob. Preceded in death by parents, Robert Corum, Sr. and Shirley Jones; brothers, Wayne and Allan Corum; sister, Teresa; step-son, Shane Stinett.
Doyle H. Inklebarger – age 78 of Corryton, went home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Doyle was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Doyle found joy in family, church, and hard work. He farmed in Tater Valley while building a career in inventory management and manufacturing. Starting at Standard Knitting Mills he learned the fundamentals of warehouse management and shipping. He leveraged this experience to earn an opportunity with Dempster Brothers, Inc. where he spent many years as a warehouse supervisor and fabrication manager.
Victor “Vick” Bailey-age 90 of Washburn went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, May 26, 2017 at his home. He was a retired employee of Grainger County Highway Department. Troy Lee Ellison – age 85 of Sharps Chapel, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Troy was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wilma Dean (Nelson) Ellison; daughter, Janet (Ricky) Collins; son, Bobby (Beth) Ellison; granddaughters, Corryne Huxley, and MiKayla Huxley; grandsons, Eric Lynn Collins, T. L. Ellison II and Jordan T. Ellison; great grandson, Connor Collins; and a big thank you to special dear friend, Mamaw Brantley. Opal Izetta Raley Irick-age 96 of Maynardville, born June 21, 1920 passed away peacefully Monday, May 22, 2017 at Willow Ridge Center. She was a lifelong member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
