Jack Brown, age 80, of Powell, went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2017 at 4:36am. He was the owner and operator of Halls Paving Co. for many years. He was a member of New Pleasant Gap Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing and playing music. He loved his family and friends and he enjoyed his life. Preceded in death by loving wife Carolyn Brown. Daughter, Vanessa Bruner and granddaughter, Trish Brown. Twin brother, Johnny. Brothers, Bill, Clarence and Bob. Sisters, Nell, Liz, Iona, Katherine, Margaret and Mossie Lee.

Charles Lester Williams, age 73, of Maynardville, passed away on Sunday, July 9th, 2017. He was of the Baptist faith, attended Crossroads Baptist Church, and was owner and operator of Halls Upholstery in Halls Crossroads for 32 years. He was proceeded in death by wife of 49 years, Barbara Ann Williams, parents Lester and Sarah Moats Williams, siblings Jackie Williams, Willie Paul Williams, Rosemary Littleton, Pauline Strickland, Hazel Mincey, Frances Reynolds, and Dorothy Crowe.

William “Bill” Whaley, 50 of Johnson City passed away quietly on Sunday July 9 in Johnson City. Bill was born May 20, 1967 in Johnson City to David H. Whaley and Linda Hammons. Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Linda. He is survived by his father, David (Janice) Whaley; step-father, Jr. Aaron Hammons; daughter, Tabatha (Tyler) Whaley Smith and granddaughter Lizzie; son, Jake Whaley; brothers, David (Jessie) C. Whaley, Shane (Mindy) Terrell, step-brother, Jamie Hammons; step-sister Tonya Hammons (Johnny Stout) and Felicia (Derrick) Saults.

Martin Geames, age 52 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord July 7, 2017. Preceded in death by mother Dorothy Wilma Humphrey Geames and father Billy Joe Geames. Survived by daughter Kathy Marie Geames; 5 brothers; several nieces and nephews; many other loved ones. Service will be held 7:00p.m. Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, Rev. Tracy Allen Smith, 55 of Knoxville passed away July 9, 2017. Preceded in death by parents Ted and Myra “Becky” Smith and sister Terria Reagan. Doris Jean Randall, passed peacefully on July 9, 2017 in Knoxville, TN. Preceded in death by husband George, sisters Beverly & Kathy. Sandi “Mime” ,“Momma” Jane Fortner age 65 of Knoxville went home to be with the Lord July 6, 2017. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and mimer. Graduate of Knoxville Business Collage and Bryan Collage Magna Cumelaude. Preceded in death by parents Rev. Albert and Betty Walters and brother Vaughn Walters.

Ona Smith Brady, age 97, passed away July 7, 2017. She professed faith in Jesus Christ at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in 1933 and remained a member there until 1974 when she became a charter member of Unity Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by husband of 71 years Bruce Brady; parents William C. Smith and Elizabeth Cox Smith; sisters, Geneva and Augusta Smith and Lena McCloud; brothers Roger, Carson, Clyde, and Ralph Smith; children Bruce Brady, Jr. and daughter, Florence Brady.

Carol Sue Arthur, age 79, of Mannington, West Virginia, passed away July 7, 2017. Preceded in death by parents Junior and Genevieve Reesman; brothers John and Mike Reesman; sister Dolly Morgan. Survived by sons Steven Arthur and wife Tina and Leonard Arthur and fiancé Robin; grandchildren Steven E. Arthur, Jr., Sarah Boyce, Daniel Arthur, Elijah Arthur, Tabatha Arthur, and Laurel Stillman, four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Frances Qualls Nixon, age 96, passed away July 5, 2017. She loved the Lord and was a long-time member of Laurel Church of Christ. One of the many ways Frances showered love on others was at Children’s Hospital where she volunteered for over 27 years. Frances was devoted to her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson. They all have wonderful memories of their special times with Nana. Frances is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Thomas Baird Nixon, parents Buck and Belle Qualls and sister, Marjorie Helen Cook.

Luther Cline Faulkner, Sr. – age 80 of Corryton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 3, 2017. He was of the Baptist faith. Luther was a retired employee of Tom’s Foods. He enjoyed his family, fox hunting and farming.

Rachel Ann Cox – infant daughter of Brandi Sharp and Rickey Cox went to be in the arms of the Lord on July 1, 2017.

Rachel is survived by her parents, Brandi Sharp and Rickey Cox; sisters, Kathy Parton and Laura Monroe; brother, Wyatt Cox; grandparents, Amy and Sam Evans and Gary and Wanda Sharp; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and two adorable nephews.

Alberta “Bertie” Marie McLemore, age 65, of Knoxville, has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ June 30, 2017. She was a member of the Church of God. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble, and doing crossword puzzles. Bertie cared for the elderly and disabled in many capacities over the last 30 years. She loved telling others about the Greatness of the Lord. She was preceded in death by son Anthony “Tony” Wayne McLemore; sister, Bessie Eulene Stiles; nephew Steve Atchley.

Beth Erin Scates, age 37, passed away suddenly June 30, 2017. She graduated from Halls High School in 1996. She loved to watch movies and enjoyed swimming. Her smile could light up a room and warm a heart. Preceded in death by father Wayne Scates. She is survived by sons Tyler Scates, of Johnson City, Tucker Scates, of Halls, and Tres Scates; daughter Tatum Carter of Knoxville; mother Debbie Scates of Halls; brother Nathan Scates, of Powell; special friend Joseph Carter. Ethel Louise McLemore, age 62 of Knoxville, TN passed away June 30, 2017. She was a former employee at Hillcrest North and NHC Healthcare. Preceded in death by husband Charles Baker McLemore; grandchildren Brandon James McLemore and Cody Michael Dunnam; siblings Betsey Styles and Alberta McLemore; parents Earl and Margaret McHaffie.

Patricia Ann Majority, age 63, passed away July 3, 2017. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald & Phyllis Stewart. Julia Anne Leatherwood, 31, of Knoxville broke free of her chains to walk the streets of gold on June 28, 2017. She is preceded in death by grandparents Joseph and Blanche Bowman and Othell and Mae Leatherwood. Survived by son Gabriel Smith; mother Carol Moore and father Joseph Leatherwood (wife Keyla); brothers Joshua Leatherwood (wife Courtney), Daniel Moore, Richard Moore, and Phillip Moore; sister Bo Leatherwood; step brothers Travis Moore and Ryan Moore; nephew Lincoln Leatherwood; and long-time boyfriend Justin Suhr. Julia was an in-home caregiver with a servant's heart.

Edna Inez (Thomas) Capps-age 84 of Halls went with her Lord and Savior to her Heavenly Home Friday, June 30, 2017. She was the 5th of six children born to Paris and Reva (Rosenbalm) Thomas, born on November 15, 1932. She loved her Lord, Jesus Christ and her family with all her heart and soul. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Cecil E. Capps; brothers and their wives, Vick and Elsie Thomas, Ray and Lorene Thomas; sisters and their husbands, Vera and Paris Walker, Ora Bell and Dot Haynes.

Isaac Reis Parks, age 34, passed away on June 22, 2017. Isaac was an amazing man with a big heart who was known for making people laugh. He was a hard worker and employee of Interstate Mechanical Contractors. He enjoyed frisbee golf, music, the outdoors and watching his son play baseball. Isaac was a devoted husband, father, son and brother who will be always missed and never forgotten. Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, John T. and Betty J. Parks; and maternal grandfather, Arthur Reis. Survived by loving wife, Ashton Parks; son, Trace Parks; father, Michael L.

Linda Sue Whitson, 68 of Powell went home to be with her Lord on June 27, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and June Hughes; son, James Byrd, brothers, Curtis, James and Mark Hughes. Linda is survived by her husband William (Jabo) of 50 years; son, Tony Byrd; daughters, Tammy Whitson and Tina Varner; grandchildren, Jacob, Breanna, Tony, Gracie, and Natalie. Additional survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and her beloved pet “Little Man”.
