Rev. Billy Joe McCoy, Sr.

Rev. Billy Joe McCoy, Sr.-age 83 of Maynardville, born February 10, 1942 passed away Friday, May 9, 2025 at his home. Joe was a member of Little Barren Missionary Baptist Church and a U. S. Army Veteran. Over the years since 1966, he pastored several area churches to include, Oaks Chapel American Christian Church, Highland Springs Baptist Church, Carter Road Baptist Church, Union Baptist Church, New Friendship Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Maynardville, Macedonia Baptist Church. Preceded in death by wife of 62 years, Linda R. McCoy; parents, Ruth (Granny) and Lloyd Cook; father, Virgil McCoy; and sister, Faye Wilson.

Survivors: daughter, Jennifer (Gary) Collins; son, Billy Joe McCoy, Jr. (Cheryl Wyrick); daughters, Sonya (Jack) Fine, Debbie McCoy; sisters, June Cook, Linda Shope and Sandra “Sissy” Sexton. Grandchildren, Hope (Jamie) McNabb, Nicholas Collins, Lela Fine, Rev. Gus (Jenna) Fine, Brandon (Hadlee) Fine; Cody Fine.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2025 with the funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Sunday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Greg Sharp officiating with music by the Little Barren Singers. Military graveside service 1 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025 at New Loyston Memorial Gardens, Andersonville by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home 12 p.m. Monday to go with the procession. Pallbearers: Gary Collins, Jack Fine, Rev. Gus Fine, Nicholas Collins, Brandon fine, Cody Fine.
