Opal Ruby (Cook) Cox, age 94, of Maynardville, TN went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2025. She left this world peacefully at Willow Ridge Rehabilitation Center. Opal lived her whole life in Union County and was well loved by her family and community. She will be dearly missed. Her strong-will and loving spirit will live on with her family and friends. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Opal is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years Willie (Little) David Cox Sr., parents Hobart and Mossie Cook; Son, Jimmy Ray Cox Sr.; daughter, Connie Gail Atkins; brothers, Carlyle Cook, Edgar Cook; sisters, Carolyn Norris, Oval Cox, and Estelle Caldwell; grandson, Jimmy Ray Cox Jr. She is survived by her son Willie David (Susan) Cox Jr; grandchildren, Julie Cox, Courtney (Chris) Sizemore, Taylor (Kadie) Cox , Lakin (Steven) Brown, Deana (Jeremy) Thomas, Ava, and Brody Biggs; Great grandchildren, Morgan, Tucker, Nikki, Abi, Kelsey, Jackson, Raelynn, Kendall, Titus, Baylin, Zion, Ivey, and Stetson; five great great grandchildren; siblings, Charles Cook, Wanda Perry, Christine Kiser, K.D. (Carol) Cook, Nell (Roe) Southerland, Ted (Joan) Cook along with a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 4:00 -7:00 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2025 at Trinity Funeral Home, with service to follow. Bryan Cooke and Josh Jones to officiate the service, with music by The Cedar Grove Quartet. Family and friends will meet 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Trinity Funeral Home to proceed in procession to Cox Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service.
