Mary Catherine Capps

Mary Catherine Capps – age 86 of Maynardville, went to be with the Lord November 30, 2025, with her loving family around her. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Maynardville. Catherine was retired from Union County School System. Everyone who knew her was touched by her generous and caring nature.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bennie Capps; parents, James and Edna Phillips; brother, James “Brother” Phillips; and precious firstborn, Denise Capps Cooke. Catherine is survived by sons, Greg (Emily) Capps, Brad (Deanna) Capps and daughter, Valerie (Eddie) Parton. She was “Nan” to grandchildren, Weston (Kelsey) Capps, Brittany (Makenna Hibdon) Waggoner, Mary Alison (Seth) Sides, Molly (Teo) Estrada, Emma (Kai Xin) Capps and Nathan Capps; great grandchildren, Nolan and Dalton Capps, Carter Sides, and soon to be Valentina Estrada; sisters, Ann (Kyle) Richardson and Debbie (Bill) Cox; brother, Ike Phillips; sister-in-law, Debbie Phillips. She also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and special lifelong friend, Judy Fields. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff of Willow Ridge and Suncrest Hospice.

The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the Trinity Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2025, at Trinity with Reverend Jason Miracle officiating. Following service family and friends will proceed to Monroe Cemetery for the graveside service. The family requests those wishing to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association of Tennessee.
