Marvin Jeffreys manages the business for Mitch Lester, owner of American Business Equipment, Inc. Everyone enjoyed cake and signing up for door prizes. Sew ‘N Vac Run by Local Family, Treating Community Like Family, Since 1974

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Sew ‘N Vac in Knoxville, TN with my mother-in-law, who had tinkered with her sewing machine and gotten the settings mixed up, so we took it in for service. The owner, Steve Osborne, remembered trading with her more than a decade ago. She traded her mother’s old quilter for a new sewing machine. Osborne looked it over and fixed the settings and replaced a missing foot and refused to take any money for the service. He was just taking care of a customer.

Introducing Jeffrey and Amanda Smith, the owners of Garbage Buddy, a new trash pickup service that opened on July 6 of this year. The business, officially Smith Sanitation, LLC, is off to a great start, staying busy, and adding customers daily. They already have plans to expand to Grainger, Anderson, and Knox counties, as they are receiving service requests from those areas.

Becky's Hen House Opens in Corryton

There is a little country store packed with vintage goods, antiques, homemade soaps and love opening in the Corryton community. The little slice of a country market, called Becky’s Hen House, will host a Grand Opening event on Saturday, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bring the family out, discover the new business, and be treated to complimentary hot dogs, chips, drinks, and cookies, not to mention a chance to shop at Snow Cone Eddie with his legendary snow cones and Ada Bee’s Boutique with clothing, hats and jewelry.

Her business of customizing, designing, and personalizing continues to trend and thrive after three years and running.

Candace creates personalized and custom apparel and embroiders bags, hats, and well, like Reese says, anything that isn’t moving. Her business is located at her home in the Big Ridge community. Maynardville is her hometown and where her heart and family lies.

20th Annual Daylily Bloom Festival

Enthusiasts from around the world traveled to spectate the picturesque landscapes of unique blooms at the Twentieth Annual Oakes Daylily Bloom Festival on Friday and Saturday June 28 and 29. The weather was usual for East Tennessee’s late June days, very hot and muggy, but the temperatures did not slow down the masses of guests attending.
