Dana S. Simerly-age 74 of Maynardville passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at his home. We have lost a good friend, son, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. The community has lost a caring and giving individual. Humanity has lost a loving, kind, giving, generous, and all-around exceptional human being. Dana’s friends and family have been fortunate to see his place, known as Zoolook, evolve from a rugged wooded fifty-some acres to a subtlety managed wildlife preserve of great beauty.

Libby Ann Brantley – age 67 of Corryton, passed away suddenly with Keith by her side. She was a member of Warwick Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by parents, Walter P. and Thelma Monroe; brothers-in-law J. V. Waller and Raymond Sanders. Libby is survived by husband of 50 years, Keith Brantley; children, Matthew (Amy) Brantley and Adam (Stephanie) Brantley; her special fur babies, Maggie and Izzy; grandchildren, Bryson, Jackson, Parker, Bowen and Jordyn; sisters, Anna Mae Sanders, Linda Waller and Sherry (Kenny) Hall; and many nieces and nephews.

Sandra Faye Stephens - 71 of Corryton, passed away October 3, 2022. No services are planned at this time.

Rochelle Alena Helms – age 28 of Maynardville, passed away suddenly on October 2, 2022. Rochelle was a member of Alder Springs Baptist Church. She was born on November 9, 1993 at the University of Tennessee Hospital. Rochelle was a graduate of Union County High School Class of 2012. She was a licensed cosmetologist and owner of Bronzed Brilliance Tanning. She was a natural at everything she set her mind to. Rochelle enjoyed crafting, painting and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Above all Rochelle was the mother to her son, her pride and joy, Clay.

Dannie L. Dunn – born October 10, 1946, passed away September 30 in his sleep. He now joins our youngest daughter, Tracy who passed away February 7, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Sharon of 55 years; daughter, Stacy Dunn; sister, Tonya; niece, Kristan of Dunnellon, Florida; and many relations that have made many great memories in his life. A huge thank you to everyone that has reached out to our family.

Rev. Albert Richard (Dick) Baumgardner-age 83 of Washburn went to be with his Lord Friday morning, September 30, 2022 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab. He was a retired minister of the Gospel and a former pastor of Cedar Ford Baptist Church serving for 32 years; a graduate of Carson-Newman University and Southern Seminary. He served in and retired from the U. S. Army and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He had 22 years of service with the Army, the last two years, he served as security for Air Force One.

Darrell “Dwayne” Nicley-age 52 of Washburn passed Wednesday evening, September 28, 2022 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He was a member of Johnson’s Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by grandparents, Cornelius and Rozella Nicley; James C. and Stella Williams.

Survivors: two sons, Keegan Nicley and Colton Nicley; parents Darrell and Patricia (Williams) Nicley; brother, Greg Nicley and wife, Crystal; niece, Haley Waller and husband, Noah; nephew, Jace Nicley. Several aunts and uncles along with a host of friends.

Zollie Belinda Beeler-age 60 of Maynardville, born November 25, 1961 passed away Tuesday morning, September 27, 2022 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving children and Christina Shadrick. She was of the Baptist faith and was saved at an early age. Preceded in death by loving husband, Ronnie Lee Beeler; son, Ron Beeler; father, Fred Finley; mother, Geraldine Finley; brother, Eddie Finley; grandson, Landon Suttles, several aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Kyle Franklin Burgan-age 43 of Andersonville passed away suddenly Tuesday evening, September 27, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was a loving husband, father and Papaw. Preceded in death by grandparents, Clifford and Trula Hutchison; uncle, Lonnie Hutchison.

Survivors: wife of 19 years, Sarah Burgan; two daughters, Abigail Copeland and husband, Quinton; Kayla Ritter; four grandchildren, Jakob, Annelise, Addison and Emberly; uncles, Chester Hutchison; Allen Hutchison.

Regina Hubbs – Age 36, Maynardville, Tennessee passed away suddenly Monday, September 26, 2022 at her home. She is proceeded in death by her son, Zander Hubbs; husband, Chuck Coffey; father, Gene Hubbs; brother, Timothy Ray Hopson and uncle, Eddie “Flywheel “Beeler. She is survived by her daughter, Nevaeh Coffey and son, Zayn Hubbs; mother, Lois Hubbs; sister-in-law, Cindy Hopson; special sisters, Donna Seymour and Trish Effler. Special brother.

Margaret Ann Middleton – age 78 of Powell, TN passed away peacefully, September 27, 2022. She was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church.

Glenn Stump, age 92, of Sharps Chapel, Tennessee, passed away on September 23, 2022. Glenn was a loving husband and father as well as an amazing “Papaw” to his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a long-time entrepreneur in the Phelps, Kentucky area. Glenn along with his late wife, Pauline, were a staple at the Phelps intersection for many years. Glenn enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a man of true grit, and had touched many families throughout his life.Glenn was born on May 26, 1930, to the late Frank Stump, Sr. and Sara Ann (Dotson) Stump.

Thelma Louise Oaks-age 79 of Knoxville, born July 13, 1943 in Union County, Tennessee went to be with the Lord 2:31 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. Louise is a member of Grace Full Gospel Baptist Church, Corryton and was a retired postal worker of 30 years. Preceded in death by parents, Willis and Sylvia Burnette and eight siblings.

Sheila J. (Brown) Chesney-age 55 of Washburn went to be with the Lord, Friday morning, September 23, 2022 at her home. She was a member of Pennington Chapel Baptist Church and a graduate of Horace Maynard High School, Class of 1985. She was the owner/operator of Sheila’s Hair Fashions. Preceded in death by parents, Glen and Donna (Bailey) Brown.

Kami Darlene Flatford-age 42 of Maynardville peacefully left this earth for her Heavenly home Saturday, September 17, 2022. Kami had a big heart and would help anyone. She loved the Lord and is now in His presence along with her grandparents, Gye Beeler, Louise Price, Clarence and Wilma Flatford; aunt, Patricia Darlene Flatford and uncle, Darrell Beeler.

Troy Leon Yadon-age 76 of Maynardville passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 at North Knoxville Medical Center. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and a U. S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was also a proud member of the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. Preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Smith Yadon; parents, Roy and Belva (Savage) Yadon; brother, Glen Yadon; sisters, Louise Bailey and Inez Ellen Poore; brother-in-law, Jerry Cole.

Bobby Randel White

Bobby Randel White (89) left this earth to be with the Lord on September 15, 2022. During his lifetime he proudly served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He was a member of Hines Creek Baptist Church for many years, as well as Emory Valley Baptist Church. He was a member of the Union County American Legion. He made his living and was well known in the construction community for his drywall finishing skills.

Alvin Eugene Kitts-age 77 of Luttrell passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at his home. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. He was employed for 37 years at Lay’s Packing Company and retired as an over-the-road truck driver. Anyone who knew him loved him. He was also known as Al or Slim to his friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Blondie Kitts; wife, Dottie Kitts; wife, Bessie Kitts.

Clifford R. Woods, Jr.-age 86 of Speedwell, born February 14,1936 known as Jr. to his siblings and Woody to his friends, passed away on the evening of September 11,2022 from injuries incurred in a tragic automobile accident. Clifford was retired from the US Navy as a hospital corpsman, Chief Petty Officer. His favorite past time was surfing the internet for great deals of which he found many because everything was a great deal to him, he loved buying in bulk! He was always ready with a joke and a story to tell; he loved his family and talking politics to anyone who would listen.

Dr. Elizabeth "Cyd" Hamilton (1967-2022). We are heartbroken to announce the death of our dear friend Dr. Elizabeth “Cyd” Hamilton, a marvel, who passed away on September 6th, 2022 at the age of 55. Born June 27th, 1967 in Illinois State, into this thing called Life where she fell madly in love with nature and every last one of its fantastic creatures. Trees and people and spiders and dogs and algaes and fungi. Orphaned as a teenager by the untimely death of her mother, she was driven and determined to put herself through school and a higher education in the sciences.
