James “Pap” Campbell – age 79 of Maynardville, passed away suddenly, Thursday, November 9, 2023 at his home. He was a member of Pennington Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid fan of U.T. football. We will surely miss his “Pap” hugs. Preceded in death by parents, Rev. George and Leona (Chesney) Campbell, brother, Tommy Campbell.

Survived by sons, Larry Campbell and wife, Laura, of Luttrell, Stanley Campbell and wife, Sheila, and Jamie Campbell, all of Maynardville, daughter, Carol Sue Hill and husband, Justin of Lenior City. Grandchildren, Michelle Phillips and husband, D.J., Samantha Bowman, Blake Middleton, Taylor Campbell, Tiffany Engel, Maggie Parris and husband, Luke. Great-grandchildren, Aubrey Phillips, Noah Phillips, Addison Bowman and Aiden Redmond. Special friend, Peggy Campbell, sister, Faye Seal and husband, Doug of Maynardville, sister-in-law, Mary Campbell of Maynardville. Little Buddy, Matthew Seal. Special friend, Tony Middleton. Several nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2023 with funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Cooke-Campbell Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Leon Nicely officiating with music by Rev. Richard and Linda Nicley. Interment 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2023 at Boruff Cemetery, Washburn. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Monday to go in procession. Pallbearers: D. J. Phillips, Justin Hill, Noah Phillips, Blake Middleton, Dwight Seal, Tony Middleton.
