Darrell Y. Brake, Jr.-age 61 of Sharps Chapel passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at home. He was a former employee of Aubrey’s Restaurant, Powell. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Engineer Battalion as a heavy equipment operator. Preceded in death by his father, Darrell Y. Brake, Sr.; sister, Aundra Shoffner; cousin, Laura Fridley; grandparents, Henry and Aundra Ditmore.

He is survived by his mother, Ella Sue Brake; son, Darrell Brake, III both of Sharps Chapel; granddaughter, Sylvee Brake of Alabama; aunts, Doris Fridley of Kokomo, Indiana, Hilda Nichols of Sykesville, Maryland; niece, Sarah Campbell of Sharps Chapel; cousins, John Fridley, Jr., Eddie Fridley, Dawne Dill, Amanda Knudsen; best friend, Scott Payer and several other relatives along with a host of friends.

Military graveside service 2 pm Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Big Barren Cemetery, Maynardville, presented by Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard, scripture by Ernie Hatmaker. Friends may meet at the cemetery 1:45 pm Tuesday. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
