UT Extension to Host Program on Ticks, Screwworms, and Cattle Health
MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. — Area cattle producers and livestock owners are invited to attend an educational program focused on emerging cattle health concerns, including ticks, tick-borne diseases, and screwworm infestations. The event, titled “Ticks & Screw Worm in Cattle Production,” will be held Monday, July 27, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The program is sponsored by UT Extension and will feature Dr. Sam Collins, who will provide the latest information on ticks in cattle & livestock production and the potential impact of screwworms on livestock operations. Participants will learn about prevention, monitoring, and management strategies to help protect herd health and reduce economic losses.
Ticks continue to be a growing concern for cattle producers across the Southeast due to their ability to spread diseases that affect animal health and productivity. In addition, increased awareness of screwworm threats has highlighted the importance of surveillance and early detection in livestock herds.
A complimentary dinner will be provided for attendees, and participants will also receive a free beef calendar while supplies last. Organizers encourage advance registration to assist with meal planning.
