UC Opry attendees help fund Lions Club sight services

Union County Lions Club supports better vision for those who cannot afford glasses.

The Union County Opry's annual Christmas show was a whole lot of fun and a great success. The set was beautiful and the performances by the kids from Big Ridge Elementary School and Southern Taps Clogging were excellent. The house was packed as the enthusiastic audience filled almost every seat. The Union County High School was full of the spirit of Christmas. And in that spirit, almost $900 was donated by the various audience members to the Union County Lions Club to help them continue providing free eye exams and glasses to all who cannot afford them and do not have insurance. Thank you everyone for supporting the work of your Lions Club.

Clients are given appointments to go to the Lions Building in Fountain City for exams and glasses. But on May 10, 2025, Union County will be doing the exams right here at Union County High School for Union, Claiborne and Grainger County residents. Contact information for applications and scheduling will be available next month. Watch this space!

Many different tests are used to check vision at different distances and in different areas of your field of vision.
