Members of the Union County School Board recently attended the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) Fall District meeting, held at Valley View Elementary School in LaFollette, Tennessee. The meeting brought together school board members from across East Tennessee to discuss education policy, participate in training and share updates on local district initiatives.

Union County was represented by Board Chair Jessica Buck, Vice Chair Rebecca Lock, and board members Charlie Hamilton, Terry Washam, Jimmy Carter and Harold Cooke.

During the meeting, Carter was recognized by TSBA with a Level 1 School Board Member Certificate, honoring his completion of foundational training and commitment to excellence in board service.

The Union County delegation also shared exciting updates on local educational growth, including the new Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) addition at Union County High School, the progress of the new Horace Maynard Middle School project, and the development of new programs aimed at enhancing student opportunities and workforce readiness.

The Union County School Board remains committed to staying engaged with state-level education leaders, collaborating with fellow districts, and ensuring the continued growth and success of students and schools in Union County.

Thanks,
Charlie Hamilton
