Meeting Notice by Patrick Hurley

Show your support for the Union County Farmers Market!

On May 26, the Union County Commission voted to establish a new farmers market board. The County Mayor appointed the board members, who include four County Commissioners and three people from the farm community. During the Commission meeting, one Commissioner explained the purpose of the new board is to move toward County operation of the Farmers’ Market. As part of the approved plan, the County intends to hire its own Farmers Market manager.

The new County Farmers Market Board will hold its first meeting on Monday, July 6 at 6:00 PM in the large courtroom in the County Courthouse in Maynardville.

If the Union County Farmers Market has made a difference in your life—as a vendor, customer, volunteer or supporter—we encourage you to attend. The meeting is open to the public, and everyone is welcome. Your presence matters.

A strong community showing is a positive way to demonstrate the value of the nonprofit Farmers Market and the importance of preserving the programs and partnerships that have benefited our community for 16 years.

Thank you for supporting local farmers, local food, and the future of the Union County Farmers Market.

Let’s fill the room with the people who have made this market a success
