🌽 Union County Youth Invited to Compete in 2025 Corn Festival

Maynardville, TN – July 2025 — The UT TSU Extension Office in Union County in partnership with Union County Farmers Market is excited to announce the 2025 Corn Festival Youth Competitions, a celebration of creativity, agriculture, and community spirit. The event will take place as part of the annual Corn Festival, offering local youth a chance to showcase their talents in culinary arts, gardening, and creative design.

Entry drop-off will be held on Friday, August 1, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM at Heritage Park (115 Durham Drive). Judging will begin at 12:00 PM, and entries will be available for pickup on Saturday, August 2 at 12:30 PM at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion.

“This is a great opportunity for young people to express themselves, learn about agriculture, and be part of a fun, family-friendly event,” said Shannon DeWitt, Extension Agent III & Co-Director. “We’re always amazed by the creativity and effort our youth put into their entries.”

🏆 Competition Categories Include:
Culinary Arts: Sweet and savory cornbread, farm-to-table corn dishes, and cookie decorating
Creative Projects: Veggie creatures and painted or decorated eggs
Horticulture: Fresh vegetables, herbs, and floral arrangements
Participants are encouraged to include recipes and photos where applicable. Bonus points will be awarded for agricultural themes. All entries must be prepared solely by the exhibitor, and only one entry per person per category is allowed.
